Panthers' Rodney Smith: Promoted to active roster

The Panthers have signed Smith to their active roster.

Smith failed to make the Panthers' active roster after signing with them as an undrafted free agent. The Minnesota product is the Gophers' all-time leader in all-purpose yards and will be making his NFL debut. While Christian McCaffrey (shoulder) will be sidelined, Smith will still be behind Mike Davis and Trenton Cannon on the depth chart.
