Tyrone Wheatley: Dropped by New England

The Patriots waived Wheatley (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Wheatley reverted to New England's IR after going unclaimed on waivers in early August, but the team has now decided to move on from the 27-year-old. Wheatley has appeared in just two regular-season contests in his NFL career, both of which were with the Patriots last season. He's now free to sign elsewhere once he has recovered from his undisclosed injury.
