Mettenberger has been waived by the Titans, The Tennessean reports.

Mettenberger started 10 games across his two seasons in Tennessee, combining for 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, but the Titans sought a more experienced backup to quarterback Marcus Mariota, thus signing veteran Matt Cassel earlier this offseason. With Cassel joining the Titans, Mettenberger's path to reps was even more crowded, so now the 24-year-old will get the opportunity to go through OTAs and training camp elsewhere. At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Mettenberger's size and arm strength should make him an intriguing option for teams in the market for a reserve signal-caller.
