Ovechkin scored two goals in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Predators. The first came on the power play and the second was an empty-netter.
This was a sleepy game through two, but Washington's offense flipped the switch after Michael McCarron's game-tying goal for Nashville early in the third. Nick Jensen answered just 44 seconds later for the Capitals and Ovechkin added an insurance marker with the extra man 1:06 after that. Ovie struck again with the Nashville net empty late, pushing his season goal total to 31. He's reached the 30-goal mark 16 times in 17 seasons.
