Capitals' Joe Cannata: Placed on waivers

Cannata was waived by Washington for the purpose of reassignment Wednesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Cannata has yet to make his NHL debut, and it appears he will have to wait a little bit longer, as he appears destined for the minors after hitting the waiver wire. The Merrimack College product spent the 2015-16 season with AHL Utica, where he logged a 2.52 GAA and a pair of shutouts. Barring injury, the Caps are unlikely to call up the netminder this season, severely limiting his fantasy value.
