Capitals' Spencer Smallman: Lands on waivers

Smallman was placed on waivers by the Capitals on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Smallman joined the Capitals on a one-year, two-way contract at the beginning of July, and he'll head to AHL Hershey if he clears waivers. He hasn't yet made his NHL debut, but he tallied 12 goals and 21 points over 53 regular-season appearances with AHL Colorado last year.
