Hogberg was waived by the Islanders on Sunday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Hogberg appeared in two preseason contests for New York -- he posted a .929 save percentage and a 2.02 GAA in 44:35 of ice time. The Swedish netminder hitting waivers could be an indication that Ilya Sorokin (back) is healthy ahead of the upcoming campaign. Hogberg's last NHL appearance was in 2020-21 with Ottawa, when he posted a 4-7-0 record, .876 save percentage and 3.74 GAA in 14 regular-season appearances.
