Mat Barzal has entered the NHL's COVID-19 protocol and will not play Tuesday against the Red Wings.

Barzal will need to record two negative COVID tests before returning to the ice. The 24-year-old was on a hot streak, recording nine points in his last six appearances. Brock Nelson will potentially fill in for Barzal on the first line in his absence.
