Shesterkin kicked out 40 of 41 shots Monday in a 2-1 overtime win over Toronto.
The dominant storyline coming into the night was the season debut of Toronto superstar Auston Matthews, but Shesterkin quickly took over the narrative with a terrific performance. The 25-year-old netminder, who was named the game's No. 1 star, limited the Maple Leafs to a second-period re-direct by Michael Bunting, while denying all eight of Matthews' game-high eight shots. Shesterkin has stopped 54 of 58 shots (.931 save percentage) over his first two starts of the year.
