Rangers' Nathan Gerbe: Waived for AHL reassignment

Gerbe was placed on waivers for the purpose of reassignment to the AHL on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Gerbe signed up with New York on a one-way deal in the offseason, but couldn't find his way into a fourth-line slot on the NHL roster. His demotion (along with fellow winger Tanner Glass) seems to indicate that prospect Pavel Buchnevich is likely to start the season with the Rangers.
