Red Wings' James van Riemsdyk: Won't play Thursday

Van Riemsdyk (not injury related) won't dress in Thursday's season opener against Montreal, per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.

Van Riemsdyk has returned from the personal matter that caused him to miss most of training camp, but he was still placed on the non-roster list Monday to give him more time to get up to speed before playing. Van Riemsdyk might make his season debut Saturday versus Toronto.
