  • Schmaltz amassed 11 goals and 34 assists in 70 games prior to the suspension of play in mid-March. It's somewhat hard to fathom, but the 24-year-old's unspectacular 45 points are actually second among Coyotes beyond Taylor Hall's 52 -- especially since they were only five points out of a playoff spot with 12 games remaining when play was halted. After an injury-plagued 2018-19, Schmaltz got back on track this year and would likely challenge his 52-point career high (2017-18 with Chicago) should the regular-season resume.

  • Schmaltz scored twice and fired three shots on goal in Monday's 4-2 loss to Winnipeg. Schmaltz tallied a beauty to open the scoring with 4:10 left in the first period, walking Winnipeg defenseman Neal Pionk and chipping it past Connor Hellebuyck for his 10th goal of the year. He added No. 11 just over four minutes later, depositing a Jason Demers rebound with two seconds left on the clock. More well known for his slick playmaking abilities and his preference to dish the puck, Schmaltz's two-goal performance was his first of the season. The 24-year-old has 45 points in 70 games this season, his first full year with the Coyotes.

  • Schmaltz potted a goal on five shots in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Canucks. Schmaltz corralled a rebound from a wide shot by Carl Soderberg, tucking the puck behind Thatcher Demko at 10:10 of the third period. The tally snapped a 14-game goal drought for Schmaltz, who managed just four assists in February. The 24-year-old forward is up to nine goals, 43 points, 90 shots and a plus-3 rating through 68 outings.

  • Schmaltz recorded a power-play helper in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Hurricanes. Schmaltz set up Christian Dvorak for the second-period tally. In five games since the bye week, Schmaltz has a goal and three helpers. He had a seven-game drought prior to the break. The 23-year-old is up to 39 points (10 on the power play), 68 shots on goal and a plus-4 rating through 56 contests.
