Olli Maatta D | UTA
Mammoth's Olli Maatta: Suiting up against Kraken
Maatta (upper body) will return to action versus Seattle on Friday, Cole Bagley of KSL Sports reports.
Maatta has played in just one of the Mammoth's last 17 contests, registering a mere 12:06 of ice time in that clash with the Sharks. Overall, the veteran blueliner has generated a lone point in his 16 outings this year, so his return to the lineup is unlikely to impact the majority of fantasy managers.

Jonas Brodin D | MIN
Wild's Jonas Brodin: Questionable for weekend
Per Dylan Loucks of The Hockey News, Brodin (undisclosed) could miss games against Ottawa and Boston this weekend, according to head coach John Hynes on Friday.
The Wild recalled David Jiricek from AHL Iowa in anticipation that Brodin may not be available this weekend. Brodin has three goals, six assists and 66 blocked shots across 30 contests in 2025-26.

Marshall Rifai D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Marshall Rifai: Could return Saturday
Rifai (wrist) could make his season debut Saturday against the Oilers, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports Friday.
Rifai is currently on long-term injured reserve, as he underwent wrist surgery during training camp. The 27-year-old blueliner played a pair of games with the Maple Leafs during the 2023-24 campaign, but he has otherwise been a career minor leaguer. The Maple Leafs are really hurting on the blue line, and they may be forced to use Rifai if Oliver Ekman-Larsson (lower body) is unable to play Saturday.

Christopher Tanev D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Chris Tanev: Getting second opinion
Tanev will seek a second opinion for his upper-body issue, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports Friday.
The news doesn't provide much clarity regarding Tanev's eventual return to action, but fantasy players should probably expect the blueliner to miss at least another week, if not longer. The Leafs should be getting some reinforcements on the blue line in the form of Marshall Rifai (wrist). Still, Tanev's continued absence doesn't bode well for the team's ability to limit opportunities in front of the netminders.

Brandon Carlo D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Brandon Carlo: Recovering from surgery
The Maple Leafs announced Friday that Carlo underwent foot surgery Dec. 3 and will be sidelined indefinitely, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports.
Carlo has been sidelined since mid-November due to a lower-body issue, and he suffered a setback in his recovery around early December. He was already slated to miss extended time following his absence, and it's now been revealed that he underwent a procedure on his foot that is expected to sideline him until approximately early January, per Dave McCarthy of NHL.com.

Ilya Solovyov D | COL
Avalanche's Ilya Solovyov: On conditioning stint
Solovyov was sent to AHL Colorado on a conditioning stint Friday.
The 25-year-old has been a healthy scratch in each of the last 18 games. Solovyov has yet to hit the scoresheet in nine NHL games this season.

Matt Dumba D | PIT
Penguins' Matt Dumba: Headed for waivers
Dumba is set to be waived by the Penguins on Friday.
Dumba has made just 11 appearances for Pittsburgh this year in which he recorded one goal on seven shots, two assists and 16 hits while averaging 14:56 of ice time. With the addition of Brett Kulak in Friday's trade, it appears the 31-year-old Dumba is the odd man out for the Penguins and will likely be headed for AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton if he clears waivers.

David Jiricek D | MIN
Wild's David Jiricek: Expected to be called up
Jiricek is slated to be recalled from AHL Iowa on Friday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
The Wild are apparently dealing with an injury on the blue line, hence the recall of Jiricek. He has yet to pick up a point in 12 NHL games this season with the Wild. Jiricek has one goal and a pair of assists in 10 AHL games this season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D | TOR
Maple Leafs' Oliver Ekman-Larsson: Could play Saturday
Ekman-Larsson (lower body) is expected to see how he feels during Saturday's morning skate and could face the Oilers, Darren Dreger of TSN reports Friday.
Ekman-Larsson needed help off the ice Thursday against San Jose, and it appeared that he could not put any pressure on his leg at the time. Ekman-Larsson will go through practice, and a determination will be made ahead of game time. Ekman-Larsson has four goals and 20 points across 30 games this season.

Rasmus Sandin D | WAS
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Two helpers in shootout loss
Sandin notched two assists in Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to Carolina.
The 25-year-old blueliner snapped a nine-game point drought with the performance, while collecting multiple points for the first time since Nov. 13. Sandin's made his usual contributions at both ends of the ice in 2025-26, and through 26 games he's produced two goals and nine points with 45 blocked shots, 37 hits, 30 shots on net and a plus-12 rating.
