Racing Hall of Fame member Todd Pletcher can tie the record for most Wood Memorial wins by a trainer when he sends out three horses in the 2022 Wood Memorial on Saturday at Aqueduct Racetrack. The 54-year-old Pletcher has won the Wood Memorial six times, including last year with Bourbonic, one shy of the record set by Jim Fitzsimmons, who won seven times between 1930 and 1957. In the Wood Memorial 2022, Pletcher will go for No. 7 with Mo Donegal (5-2), Golden Code (15-1) and Long Term (20-1). The Steve Asmussen-trained Morello is the 8-5 favorite in the 2022 Wood Memorial odds. Mo Donegal and the Chad Brown-trained Early Voting are right behind at 5-2 in the eight-horse 2022 Wood Memorial field.

One shocker: Demling is high Barese, even though he's an 8-1 long shot. A son of Laoban, Barese is a perfect three-for-three in his short career. He started his career in May at Belmont Park, but didn't return to the races until winning the Rego Park Stakes at Aqueduct in January. In his last start, he won the Gander Stakes.
In that race, he was relentless in the stretch, powering past a tiring leader and galloping out well. On March 26, he had a fast five-furlong workout. "He looks to have some talent and, if he can get the distance, will be right there," Demling told SportsLine. Demling will include Barese prominently in his Wood Memorial 2022 picks.
