The top matchup Saturday night is a battle of two Tigers teams in No. 9 LSU and No. 4 Clemson. LSU is looking for a breakout year in Brian Kelly's fourth season at the helm in Baton Rouge, and the good news for him is he has one of the nation's best quarterbacks in Garrett Nussmeier, who had over 4.000 passing yards last season. Clemson made the College Football Playoff last year and is looking to get back into title contention under Dabo Swinney. Those Tigers also have a top-end quarterback in Cade Klubnik, who is coming off a great 2024 campaign of his own. The SportsLine Projection Model, which simulates every college football game 10,000 times, is backing LSU on the money line as they win this matchup in almost 60% of model simulations at plus money.

Another intriguing matchup Saturday night is between two former conference foes. Cal and Oregon State are no strangers to each other after facing off in the Pac-12 for years and years, but Cal is now in the ACC while Oregon State is in a new-look Pac-12 conference. These teams meet in Corvallis in a classic 10:30 p.m. ET West Coast kickoff. Cal had a 6-7 season in its first run in the ACC, making a bowl game once again but not competing for a conference title under longtime head coach Justin Wilcox. The Golden Bears lost top running back Jadyn Ott to the transfer portal and will turn to true freshman quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele to lead the offense. As for Oregon State, the Beavers enter their second year under Trent Bray, who guided the team to a 5-7 record in 2024. The model likes Cal to get the road win as the Golden Bears win this matchup in 54% of model simulations at -114.
