LOOK: This guy ran on a treadmill for 24 straight hours to set world records
'That really, really, really hurt,' he said afterward
It takes a lot to work up the energy to jump on the treadmill for 20 minutes after a long day at work -- what if you had to run for 24 consecutive hours?
According to The Calgary Herald, Canadian ultramarathon runner Dave Proctor decided to put his superior stamina to the test over Memorial Day weekend, setting unofficial world records for distance traveled on a treadmill over 12- and 24-hour intervals.
Proctor completed 139.2 km (almost 87 miles) in the first 12 hours and finished his 24-hour workout having traveled 260.4 km (nearly 162 miles).
Proctor didn't mince words after his feat.
"That was a terrible choice," he told the Herald. "That really, really, really hurt."
The 35-year-old set the records as part of a group at the Calgary Marathon Expo supporting families affected by mitochondrial disease, so it helped that he was doing some good while putting himself through hell.
Members of his group also set several other treadmill records during the event.
