Growing up, I always loved a grab bag of different clubs. It might be a Callaway driver here or a Titleist putter there. But when it came to irons, I always loved Mizunos.

I loved the way they looked, loved the way they felt and loved how much Mizuno poured into making a world class iron.

The Mizuno MP-15 irons have not disappointed me now that, as an adult, I'm actually halfway decent at golf and don't pick clubs based on how "cool" they look anymore (though they still look cool).

I've been using the MP-15s for a few months now and while I'm probably punching above my weight class when it comes to blades vs. cavity backs (the MP-15s are designed for a 0-8 handicap), I still love them.

I love how they look at address, how the short irons are weighted and how pure the long irons are when I really catch one solidly.

The MP-15s employ something called TI muscle which Mizuno describes like this:

"Forged directly inside the 1025E steel framework is a re-engineered Titanium Muscle insert, which maintains thickness behind impact for solid feel, while allowing weight to be shifted to the perimeter to provide 'full cavity' forgiveness."

It's true -- they look like blades and play similar to a set of cavity backs. They also look a lot better when Luke Donald is using them than when I am.

Here he is describing the technology behind the club:

My biggest thing with these clubs (and all irons) is how well they're weighted. I love a heavier club, and even though this isn't the most perfectly-weighted Mizuno iron I've hit, it's still pretty great.

The Mizuno MP-15s start at $999.
