Scott Van Pelt once told me "Augusta always delivers" after the 2013 Masters which Adam Scott won in a playoff. You can substitute "St. Andrews" for "Augusta" and still feel pretty good about it.

Today's reminder comes from 2005 when Tiger Woods shot 66-67-71-70 to be at Colin Montgomerie by five strokes. That year was Jack Nicklaus' last Open. The one when Tom Watson said he bawled all the way down the 18th hole on Friday as he played with Nicklaus.

"I had real strong feelings about Jack Nicklaus in his final round in the Open at St Andrews," said Watson. "I was crying like a baby from the tee to the green on 18."

The 2015 British Open is Watson's last although I'm not sure if you'll see a crying Phil Mickelson anywhere near the Old Course (unless he's lost a big Tuesday money game to Rickie Fowler).

Are you excited for this tournament yet? I am. The Greenbrier and John Deere Classic are going to be tough to get through.
