WATCH: Rory McIlroy sees albatross lip out at Deutsche Bank Championship
The Ulsterman is making his move at TPC Boston on Sunday
Rory McIlroy is suddenly right in the thick of the Deutsche Bank Championship on Sunday after lipping out this albatross (!) on the final hole. McIlroy had five birdies on the front nine and one on the back to shoot 66 and get to 9 under, which was within three of leader Paul Casey at the time McIlroy finished.
McIlroy's second shot was pretty unbelievable after a 320-yard drive. He even showed a ton of emotion afterwards, which is rare for him when he's not leading a major championship. I'm still not sure how it didn't go down.
Rory McIlroy ... 210 yards ... for albatross ...

Incredible. https://t.co/lZwfDtL46c
McIlroy is actually putting quite well this week as he's 10th in the field in strokes gained putting after hiring a new coach. Hitting shots like this will help as well. His undoing has been two poor holes: a triple bogey on Friday in Round 1 and a double bogey on the back nine on Sunday. Still, he'll tee off with the leaders on Monday in search for his first win of 2016 on the PGA Tour.
Just asked Rory if that would've been an albatross or a double-eagle. "Definitely albatross. I'm still European. I play for the blue team."

And he'll have a pretty good look at the trophy if he keeps swinging it like this.
