You might know Shingo Katayama best as the guy that wears cowboy hats, but he's currently ranked No. 72 in the Official World Golf Ranking and is one of the top players on the Japanese Tour.

With the new anchored putter ban, Katayama has had to make some adjustments to his stroke and putting routine and has come up with this as his alternative to anchoring.

He stands behind the ball and lines up his long putter where he wants it before spinning his body 90 degrees into position -- with his feet in an open stance. His grip is the same as it was when anchored, but he keeps the putter about 6 inches away from his chest.

It seems to work for him, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend trying it yourself.
