Blue Jays release pitcher Ricky Romero

Ricky Romero , who hasn't pitched in the majors since May 2013, has been released by the Blue Jays, the team has announced. 

Romero had been trying to return from surgery on both knees. 

In five seasons with the Blue Jays, Romero has a record of 51-45 with a 4.16 ERA.
