Brandon Gomes shifted to 60-day DL

The Rays moved reliever Brandon Gomes to the 60-day disabled list Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for the addition of reliever Jesse Crain from the White Sox, the Tampa Bay Times reports. 

Gomes, who has been out with a strained lat since early May, is on a rehab assignment and is nearing a return for the Rays.
