Cardinals OF Xavier Scruggs working on versatility

Cardinals outfielder Xavier Scruggs is working on the transition from first base to the outfield, per MLB.com.

Knowing that the team values versatility, he is working to adjust to the new position.

"It was huge for me getting into game speed, seeing the balls off the bat, reacting to balls down the line and over my head, and learning what my weaknesses were with that," Scruggs said. "The biggest thing is to learn as much as possible from these guys here."

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny believes that Scruggs has what it takes to get the job done.

Said Matheny, "Xavier has shown that he is a guy we can put out there."
