Diamondbacks catcher Gerald Laird will throw for the first time in eight weeks on Thursday, according to MLB.com.
A few weeks after Thursday's session, the plan is for Laird to begin hitting. His goal is to return after the All-Star Game. Laird underwent back surgery in April and has been sidelined since. He's been on the 60-day disabled list since April 21.
