Demotion followed by release for Jon Rauch

Several days after being dispatched to minor league camp, pitcher Jon Rauch has been released by the Royals. He punched his ticket out by giving up seven runs in six innings during Cactus League play this spring.

Rauch's career has taken a decided downturn since his years as an occasionally effective part-time closer with Washington and Minnesota. The 35 year old will seek employment elsewhere if he feels he is still a viable pitcher.
