The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Phillies pitcher Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez has been playing catch in the Florida instructional league, as he is working up to eventually throwing off a mound. The Phillies are hoping Gonzalez can enter the 2014 season as their No. 3 starting pitcher behind Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels.
Gonzalez defected from Cuba earlier in 2013 and was signed to a three-year, $12 million deal in August.
