Mookie Betts wants Red Sox fans to give Adam Jones a standing ovation at Fenway
The Orioles outfielder was recently subject to racist taunts at Boston's Fenway Park
Orioles outfielder Adam Jones was subjected to racist taunts during Baltimore's win over the Red Sox in Fenway Park on Monday night. Since Jones revealed what happened, the Red Sox have issued an apology, and other African-American players have recounted similar experiences in Boston. Jones spoke further about the incident Tuesday and said that current Red Sox players David Price and Mookie Betts reached out to him.
Speaking of Betts, the All-Star outfielder wants the Fenway crowd at Tuesday night's Orioles-Red Sox game to make a thoroughly different impression on Jones ...
Fact: I'm Black too ✊🏽Literally stand up for @SimplyAJ10 tonight and say no to racism. We as @RedSox and @MLB fans are better than this.

By the sounds of it, Betts is calling for Red Sox fans to give a standing ovation to Jones on Tuesday night. I don't know how likely that is -- he plays for an AL East rival, after all -- but it would certainly be a notable gesture.
As for Jones, he seems to have very reasonable expectations for how he should be treated on the road ...
Jones: "Boo me, tell me I suck ... just leave the racial stuff out of it." #orioles
