Reds pitcher Sean Marshall will undergo season-ending surgery to repair the torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder. The procedure is scheduled for Wednesday and will be performed by Dr. David Altchek of the Mets, per the team's official website.

Marshall has been limited to 31 appearances since 2013 because of troublesome shoulder issues. The 32-year-old was working his way back from shoulder surgery in June. He pitched just 14 innings last season.

"I felt bad about it," manager Bryan Price said, per ESPN.com. "He's worked so hard. It's been a challenge. It's a huge blow for him and the team. We're a better team with a healthy Sean Marshall."
