Rays starter Roberto Hernandez wasn't particularly sharp Sunday afternoon at home against the Athletics. He got the job done for the victory, though.

Hernandez walked three and hit a batter, but showed the ability to work himself out of jams consistently. He also struck out seven batters as he won his first decision since he was named Fausto Carmona.

Hernandez (1-3) gave up just one earned run on three hits over 103 pitches in the performance for his first win since September of 2011.

The 32-year-old lost each of his first three decisons on the year, but has struck out 25 batters through 24 2/3 innings and his WHIP is decent at 1.30. He's been better than his win-loss record would suggest and he'll get another opportunity to prove that in his next outing scheduled for Friday at the Chicago White Sox.
