Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino has received an epidural injection in his injured back after having his rehab shut down Wednesday, MassLive.com reports.

"We still believe he’s going to play and help us," general manager Ben Cherington said. "Obviously there was a setback this week. It’s harder to say when (his return) will be but he’s got another diagnosis and the information we’ve gotten from our staff - he’ll come back it’s just harder to say when he hasn’t played in five or six days."

In the wake of Victorino's latest setback, the Red Sox promoted top prospect Mookie Betts Saturday. Normally a second baseman, Betts has spent time in the outfield in the minors while preparing for a potential promotion.
