Twins reliever Tim Wood will undergo season-ending arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Aug. 22 in Chicago, the St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports Wednesday. Wood, who signed a minor league contract last winter and was pitching with Triple-A Rochester, is officially done for the season.

"He said he still had pain in the front of his shoulder," Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said. "He wasn't comfortable throwing. You won't see him in a Twins uni this year."

The 30-year-old Wood, who is on the 60-day disabled list, is a pending free agent. It is unlikely the Twins will sign him again.
