WATCH: Tim Tebow makes ugly-looking diving catch in left field to finish off a win
Tebow is starting to get things going offensively, but it was his defense on full display Thursday
Are things starting to turn around for quarterback turned outfielder Tim Tebow? Maybe!
The Mets farmhand smacked his third home run of the season to snap an 0 for 15 slump earlier this week, and he's gone 5 for 15 in his last five games overall.
On Thursday, Tebow showed off his defensive chops by making a game-ending diving catch in left field to preserve a win for his team, the low Class-A Columbia Fireflies (COL 3, LEX 2). Here's the catch, which was followed by an autographs session with fans:
Okay, so it's more of a slide or flop than a dive, but Tebow made the catch, and that's what matters. They don't give out points for style.
Overall, Tebow is hitting .231/.324/.362 with 40 strikeouts in 148 plate appearances this season. That's pretty impressive considering that, prior to last season, he hadn't played baseball competitively since high school. The Mets are even considering promoting him.
