Back on June 19, Alex Rodriguez became the 29th member of the 3,000th hit club. He joined ex-Yankees Derek Jeter and Wade Boggs as the only players to hit a home run for their 3,000th hit.

The Yankees held an on-field ceremony to commemorate A-Rod's milestone hit Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. It was short and quaint, and featured Rodriguez's daughters and the rest of his family. The team also gave him a diamond ring. Here's the ceremony:

And here is that diamond ring I was talking about:

That's a nice little gift right there, I'd say.

Of course, things are complicated between the Yankees and A-Rod. The team refused to pay his $6 million milestone bonus when he tied Willie Mays with his 660th home run earlier this season -- the two sides eventually agreed to donate the money to charity -- and they reportedly looked for ways to void his contract following last year's suspension. Obviously they were unsuccessful.

The two sides are stuck with each other for better or worse, so there is team owner Hal Steinbrenner, on the field, giving Rodriguez a big fat diamond ring. What a world.
