Grossman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals. Grossman will sit for the third time in five games and may have moved into a backup role in the wake of Texas recently bringing back Ezequiel Duran and Mitch Garver from the injured list. With Duran likely to see most of his opportunities in left field for the foreseeable future and with Garver picking up his third straight start at designated hitter Monday, both of Grossman's primary avenues to playing time are now blocked.... Grossman went 1-for-4 with three RBI in Saturday's 11-5 win over Colorado. Grossman delivered one run on a sacrifice fly then plated two more on a single. The outfielder is riding a six-game hit streak, during which he's 9-for-25 (.360) with eight RBI. He played himself out an everyday role earlier this season, batting .135 over the first two weeks, but Grossman has turned it around with a .295 average (31-for-105) since April 16.... See More ... Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Homers early in win
Grossman went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two total runs scored in Sunday's 11-3 win over the Athletics. Grossman made an early impact with a two-run homer in the first inning. He also added an RBI single during the Rangers' eight-run eighth inning. The outfielder has seen a slight uptick in power with five extra-base hits over his last five contests, a span in which he's gone 7-for-24 (.292). For the season, he's slashing .246/.301/.418 with five homers, 21 RBI, 22 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 33 games.... See More ... See Less -

Grossman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 5-2 win over the Yankees. The two-run shot extended Grossman's hit streak to nine games but he wasn't finished, as he picked up two more knocks. His average has jumped from .135 to .246 during this stretch. After a slow start, Grossman is finally making an impact in his first season with the Rangers.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Gives way to Duran on Tuesday
Grossman is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds. Though Grossman extended his hit streak to six games with a 1-for-4, one-RBI showing in Monday's 7-6 loss, he'll cede his spot in the lineup at designated hitter to the even hotter-hitting Ezequiel Duran, who has batted .455 amid a six-game hit streak of his own. Grossman still appears to be locked into a near-everyday role, even though he'll be on the bench for the second time in five games.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Extends streak
Grossman started at designated hitter and went 1-for-2 with two walks, a home run and four RBI in Sunday's 5-2 win over Oakland. Grossman's three-run home run in the second inning extended his hitting streak to five games and was all Texas pitching would need. He later added insurance with a sacrifice fly. The outfielder entered the game with just one RBI over the last 14 games. Grossman, who's average crept up to .208, is getting occasional starts in left field and DH among a group of players that includes Travis Jankowski, Brad Miller and Bubba Thompson.... See More ... Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Raps two hits in loss
Grossman went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Friday's 5-4 loss to Oakland. Grossman was moved up to second in the order, the highest spot he's occupied thus far in 2023, and hit safely for a fourth straight game. Slated to be the primary left fielder coming out of camp, Grossman endured an 0-for-22 stretch that knocked him from a near-everyday role. He's among a group of players that includes Brad Miller, Travis Jankowski and Bubba Thompson sharing left field and DH.... See More ... See Less -

Grossman isn't in the Rangers' lineup for Friday's game against Houston. Currently in the middle of an 0-for-16 streak at the plate, Grossman will get the day off Friday. Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Moves to DH, still slumps
Grossman served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with a run scored in Monday's 11-2 win over Kansas City. Grossman, who was given a day off Sunday amid a slump, continued to slide Monday. The outfielder has one hit over his last 22 at-bats and is in danger of losing a regular role for a couple of reasons. First, Leody Taveras (oblique) began a rehab assignment and could rejoin the club this week. Second, Bubba Thompson and Travis Jankowski, batting eighth and ninth, have sparked the Rangers' offense the last two games. The spring plans to have Grossman be the primary left fielder (when Taveras is healthy) could be pared back to a job share.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Homers from left side
Grossman started in right field went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run in Thursday's 11-7 win over Philadelphia. Grossman's three-run shot was part of the Rangers' nine-run fourth inning and tied the game after Texas had fallen behind 5-0. The switch hitter launched it from the left side, which is supposed to be his weaker side. Grossman is expected to serve as the team's primary left fielder -- he moved there later in the game -- but center fielder Leody Taveras' oblique injury may upset lineup plans early on. Adolis Garcia started in center while Josh Smith manned left field.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Works to adjust mechanics
Grossman worked on his swing from the left side of the plate during the offseason, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. The switch-hitting Grossman's history suggested he was an ideal candidate to platoon in left field. That history was reinforced last season when he hit .320/.436/.443 against left-handed pitching and .163/.253/.256 against righties. He understood a change was needed if he wanted to play every day and worked with hitting coach Tim Hyers to minimize an exaggerated leg kick against right-handers. In the minimal sample size that is spring training, Grossman is 8-for-26 (.308) with a .900 OPS against the righties, and he's been even better against lefties. That work has earned him the everyday job in left field.... See More ... See Less
