Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf2H agoThat’s a wrap for me at this place. Thoughts on the Pirates’ win Wednesday: https://t.co/q1BoKMAbJ9 https://t.co/XSG5sMVZ4P -
Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf4H agoThat's game. Pirates 8, Rangers 4. Braxton Ashcraft was brilliant. Jake Mangum drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth, and Oneil Cruz added the insurance with a moonshot three-run shot. The Pirates are 14-10. -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH4H agoFINAL: Pirates 8, Rangers 4 Ashcraft: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR Cruz 3-run HR in 9th Horwitz 2 H … Reynolds 2 H, 2B, RBI, R Pirates still haven’t lost back-to-back games since late March Now 14-10 -
Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf4H agoFrom Pirates PR: Cruz is one of six Pirates to have at least 22 RBIs in March/April since RBIs became an official stat in 1920. The others are Stargell (1971, 27), Xavier Nady (2008, 26), Nate McLouth (2008, 25), Jeff King (1996, 23) and Bryan Reynolds (2023, 23) -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH4H agoProbably not the pitch to throw Oneil Cruz. Was 116.9 mph, 422 feet. Again, hit the top of the dang foul pole & goes upper deck. Three-run shot. Incredible. It's 8-4 Pirates. https://t.co/YFVloNMLX7 -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH4H agoJake Mangum FC, soft grounder to third does the job. Nick Gonzales scores, and the Pirates take a 5-4 lead in the ninth. -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH5H agoBraxton Ashcraft, have a day. Seven innings. That's his third career start as a pro (any level) of 7 IP. 94 pitches, most by a Pirates starter this season. Line: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HR, 94-60. Should be Soto > Santana time. -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH5H agoPirates have stolen a base in seven straight. They're 24 of 26 (.923), best success rate in the majors. -
Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf6H agoBryan Reynolds singles home Henry Davis. It's the 500th RBI of his career, tied with Bobby Bonilla for the most for a switch-hitter in Pirates franchise history since 1920* (when RBIs became an official stat). *Max Carey had 721 RBIs in his Pirates career, 351 after 1920. -
Jason Mackey@JMackey_PGH6H agoWell, that was something. It's 4-2 Pirates. Bryan Reynolds single, RBI. That's the 500th of his career, becoming the 23rd Pirate since 1920 to do it, the fourth this century. Jack Leiter, going to back up, stumbles, and another run scores.
