  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sits against southpaw

Tellez isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Rays. Tellez has started mainly against right-handed pitchers recently, and he'll get a breather Wednesday with southpaw Jeffrey Springs on the mound for the Rays. Keston Hiura will start at first base and bat sixth.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat Saturday

Tellez is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Reds. Tellez mashed a homer in the series opener, his 22nd of the season, but he will sit Saturday in favor of Keston Hiura with lefty Nick Lodolo due up for Cincinnati. The 27-year-old Tellez has a .644 OPS against left-handed pitching this season.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Big performance in win

Tellez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 5-1 win over the Reds. Tellez's first-inning homer was all the Brewers needed in the win. More notably, he added his first stolen base of the year after drawing a leadoff walk in the third. Tellez hadn't attempted a steal since 2020, and he had just one successful theft in three tries in his career prior to Friday. No one will expect the 27-year-old to become a speed threat -- he's a power bat first and foremost. He's up to a career-high 22 homers with 70 RBI, 43 runs scored and a .240/.323/.483 slash line through 399 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Launches solo home run

Tellez went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-3 loss against the Pirates. After Willy Adames hit a solo shot in the top of the sixth inning, Tellez followed immediately thereafter with a solo shot of his own. It was his 21st homer of the year and his third in five games. Since July 24, the first baseman is 8-for-26, taking his batting average from .227 to .236 in the process. Tellez has five runs and nine RBI during that span, along with six strikeouts.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Powers Milwaukee to victory

Tellez went 2-for-4 with a walk, two home runs and six RBI in Wednesday's 10-4 win over the Twins. The slugging first baseman launched a pair of three-run blasts, one off Chris Archer in the first inning and the second off Jharel Cotton in the fourth to carry the Brewers to their fifth win in six games coming out of the All-Star break. Tellez is batting only .182 (14-for-77) in July, but he's connected on five of his 20 homers on the year while driving in 16 of his 64 runs.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat versus lefty

Tellez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies. Tellez will sit for the first time in the second half after he went 4-for-14 with a double, a walk, three runs and an RBI through the first three contests of the series. With southpaw Kyle Freeland on the bump for Colorado, Brewers manager Craig Counsell will play matchups and deploy the righty-hitting Mike Brosseau at first base in place of the lefty-hitting Tellez.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sleeper hitters for Week 17 (July 25-31)

With only one left-hander on the schedule and no righty better than Nick Pivetta, we can hope to see the good version of the infuriatingly streaky Tellez this week.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sleeper hitters for short Week 16 (July 21-24)

A lot of teams will realign their rotations with the best pitchers at the top to begin the second half, but it's kind of a moot point for the Rockies. The streaky Tellez is a reasonable bet to heat up against what little they have to offer.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Connects on two-run shot

Tellez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 9-5 loss to the Giants. Tellez's eighth-inning blast off Jakob Junis was his 18th of the season, leaving him one behind Willy Adames -- who hit a solo shot in the first inning -- for the team lead. Before leaving the yard in the Brewers' final game before the All-Star break, Tellez had endured a prolonged power outage, as he produced no extra-base hits in any of his previous nine contests.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat Friday

Tellez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants. Tellez started the past eight games and will head to the bench Friday after posting a .161/.235/.258 slash line during that span. Mike Brosseau will take over at first base for Milwaukee.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Takes seat Monday

Tellez is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs. Tellez went 0-for-9 over his last two games and the Brewers will be facing a southpaw Monday, so manager Craig Counsell decided to give Tellez a day off. Victor Caratini will man first base in Tellez's place.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sleeper hitters for Week 14 (July 4-10)

Tellez has begun to do serious damage again with a couple two-homer games in the past week, and his Statcast numbers suggest he has even more ground to make up. The Cubs and Pirates pitching staffs can't offer much to slow him down.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Drives in five runs

Tellez went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, five RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 19-2 win against Pittsburgh. Tellez hammered a three-run homer off of Roansy Contreras as part of Milwaukee's seven-run second inning. He then brought in two more runs with his fourth-inning double. After a 20-game homerless drought, the 27-year-old has gone deep six times over his last nine appearances. Tellez improved his slash line to .247/.319/.498 with 16 home runs and 53 RBI through 74 games.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Possible waiver wire pickups

Well, well, well. Look who the cat dragged in? Tellez got our imaginations raging when he homered twice and drove in eight runs back on May 4, but he hit just .233 with four homers and a .682 OPS in the 45 games that followed. Suddenly, though, he has four home runs in three games, connecting for two more Wednesday. Statcast still suggests he's a force to be reckoned with, projecting him for a .273 batting average and .557 slugging percentage as opposed to his actual .249 and .494 marks. He's also striking out at just a 20 percent rate, which is impressive for a player with a 95th percentile maximum exit velocity. My one reservation about going all-in again is that he tends to sit against left-handers.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Launches two more homers

Tellez went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs during Wednesday's 5-3 win against the Rays. Tellez's entered the contest with only two hits in his past five games -- the two homers he hit Sunday versus Toronto -- and he responded Wednesday with his third multi-homer game of the season. The 27-year-old is hitting .249/.324/.494 with 15 home runs, 16 doubles, 47 RBI and 29 runs through 72 games.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Two homers in win

Tellez went 2-for-4 with two two-run home runs in Sunday's victory over the Blue Jays. Tellez sent Christian Yelich home on a first-inning shot, then scored Willy Adames on another homer in the second. They were Tellez's 12th and 13th home runs and his first homers with runners on base since May 20. The two-hit performance raised Tellez's batting average to .248 after he went hitless in his last two games.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Riding pine Saturday

Tellez isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays. Tellez is getting a breather after he went 2-for-17 with a homer, a double, two RBI, four walks and two strikeouts over the last five games. Keston Hiura is starting at first base and batting eighth.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Snaps power drought

Tellez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a pair of walks in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Cardinals. Tellez drew multiple walks for the third time in four games. He also snapped a homer drought that dated back to May 29, a span of 20 contests without a long ball. The first baseman has maintained a productive .253/.328/.467 slash line through 66 contests, and he's up to 11 homers, 40 RBI, 25 runs scored and 16 doubles this year.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Sits against southpaw

Tellez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Reds. Platoon mate Keston Hiura will pick up a start at first base while the lefty-hitting Tellez takes a seat with the Reds bringing a lefty (Mike Minor) to the hill for the series finale. Tellez hasn't left the yard since May 20, but he's at least been productive at the plate over his last three starts, going 4-for-11 with a double, two walks, three runs and an RBI over that stretch.

  • Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Tellez isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Mets. Tellez will get a rare day off after he went 1-for-13 with an RBI, two walks and two strikeouts over the last four games. Keston Hiura is starting at first base and batting sixth.
