Fairchild was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Recalled by Arizona

Fairchild was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

Fairchild had been with the Triple-A club for nearly two weeks after he was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list, and he hit .280 with a triple, a double, four runs, an RBI and a stolen base across eight games. He's hit .091 across 10 major-league games this year and will serve in a depth role for Arizona.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Reinstated, sent down

Fairchild (undisclosed) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list and optioned to Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

Fairchild landed on the COVID-19 injured list July 30 but recently appeared in two rehab games with the Diamondbacks' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate. He went 2-for-6 with a double, a run and two strikeouts during that time and will remain in the minors now that he's cleared the league's health and safety protocols. While the Diamondbacks don't currently have room for him on the active roster, Fairchild will presumably be one of the top options to fill in if the team requires additional outfield depth.

Fairchild (undisclosed) took three at-bats in a simulated game Friday at the Diamondbacks' training complex.

Fairchild is working his way back after a stint on the COVID-19 protocols list. The 25-year-old outfielder should resume a fifth outfielder role once he's ready to rejoin the team.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Placed on COVID-19 IL

Fairchild was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday.

It's not clear whether Fairchild has tested positive for the virus or whether he's considered a close contact, but he was one of several players who landed on the injured list Friday. He'll be eligible to rejoin the team as soon as he clears the league's health and safety protocols.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Makes first MLB start

Fairchild started in center field and went 0-for-3 in Thursday's 9-3 loss to the Rockies.

Fairchild was called up earlier this week and is making his first tour at the major-league level. Thursday was his third appearance and first star, but the eventual return of Ketel Marte (hamstring) will add another obstacle to playing time for Fairchild.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Called up Tuesday

Fairchild was called up from Triple-A Reno prior to Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Fairchild returned from a hamstring injury in late June after missing over a month. He's performed excellently at the plate since being activated from Reno's injured list, going 11-for-26 with five homers and 13 RBI. He'll look to carry that hot streak with him to Arizona, where he could make his major-league debut in the coming days.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Returns from hamstring injury

Triple-A Reno activated Fairchild (hamstring) from the 7-day injured list Saturday. He's played in three games for the affiliate since then, going 4-for-11 with two home runs, a double, two walks, seven RBI and three runs.

Fairchild hasn't needed any time to shake off the rust after a hamstring strain kept him on the shelf for more than five weeks. The 25-year-old outfielder has been excellent over his 13 games with Reno this season, posting a .915 OPS while striking out in only 14.5 percent of his 55 plate appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Placed on minor-league IL

Fairchild was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list with a hamstring injury Tuesday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

Fairchild was sent to the minors in mid-March and slashed .263/.333/.421 with a home run, six runs, five RBI and two stolen bases across 10 games with Triple-A Reno. It's not yet clear how much time the 25-year-old will miss due to his injury.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Goes to Triple-A

The Diamondbacks optioned Fairchild to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Arizona thought enough of Fairchild's long-term potential to add him to the 40-man roster and protect him from the Rule 5 draft this offseason, but he wasn't a serious candidate to break camp with the big club. The outfielder is expected to spend most of the season at Reno after he provided a .824 OPS in his 179 plate appearances at the Double-A level during the 2019 campaign.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Added to 40-man roster

Fairchild was added to the Diamondbacks' 40-man roster Friday.

Fairchild was dealt from the Reds to the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline in 2020, and he'll be shielded from the Rule 5 draft as part of the 40-man roster. The 24-year-old could make his major-league at some point in 2020 if he continues to progress.

  • Diamondbacks' Stuart Fairchild: Dealt to Arizona

Fairchild was traded from Cincinnati to Arizona along with Josh VanMeter in exchange for Archie Bradley, John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.

One of the Reds' top prospects, Fairchild logged a 142 wRC+ at Double-A last season, albeit as a 23-year-old. He could be big-league ready sometime next season and is capable of handling all three outfield spots. He has average or better raw power and above-average speed. Fairchild walked (10.6 BB%) almost as much as he struck out (12.8 K%) last year at Double-A.

  • Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Invited to summer camp

Fairchild will be a part of the Reds' 60-man player pool this season.

Fairchild is the Reds' best outfield prospect from the upper levels of the minors. However, he will not be training with the Reds' best players at Great American Ball Park and is unlikely to get much, if any, MLB playing time this season given the Reds' outfield depth.

  • Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Power and speed despite poor AVG

Fairchild went 2-for-23 (.087) with one home run, two steals (on two attempts) and an 8:5 K:BB in 28 plate appearances in big-league camp.

He was about as productive as one could be while notching just two hits this spring. Fairchild, the No. 38 overall pick from 2017, logged a 142 wRC+ in 42 games at Double-A last season, so he could be ticketed for Triple-A when the minor-league season gets underway.

  • Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Attending big-league camp

Fairchild will join the Reds' big-league camp this spring.

Fairchild will work with the big-league coaching staff but probably isn't quite ready to be considered for a roster spot. He's yet to reach Triple-A, though he looked good in 42 games at Double-A Chattanooga, hitting .275/.380/.444.

  • Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Promoted to High-A

Fairchild was promoted to High-A Daytona on Thursday.

Fairchild, the 38th overall pitch in the 2017 first-year player draft, hit a solid .277/.377/.460 with seven homers and 17 stolen bases across 67 games with Low-A Dayton before being rewarded with a promotion. The glove-first center fielder will look to continue his success against more advanced pitching.
