Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Two hits, stolen base
Fairchild went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and two runs scored during Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Washington.
Fairchild reached safely in three of his four plate appearances and accounted for three of Atlanta's four runs scored. He plated Michael Harris in the third inning with a double before coming around to score on a throwing error. Wednesday's game snapped Fairchild's lengthy hitting slump, as he came into the contest just 1-for-20 on the year.

Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Swipes bag in Thursday's start
Fairchild went 0-for-2 with a stolen base in Thursday's extra-innings win over the Phillies.
Getting the start in right field and batting seventh, Fairchild reached on a fielder's choice in the second inning and promptly got himself into scoring position with his first steal of the season. Jarred Kelenic pinch hit for him in the seventh inning once southpaw Jesus Luzardo was out of the game for the Phillies. The 29-year-old Fairchild has gone 1-for-7 with a triple and a run scored in four appearances since being picked up to bolster Atlanta's depleted outfield at the end of March.

Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Starting Wednesday
Fairchild is starting in right field and batting seventh against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Fairchild will make his 2025 debut with Atlanta on Wednesday after being acquired from the Reds on Monday. With Ronald Acuna (knee) on the IL and Jurickson Profar suspended 80 games for violating MLB's policy on performance-enhancing substances, Fairchild could see semi-regular starts in the outfield corners. The 29-year-old appeared in 94 games for Cincinnati in 2024 and slashed .215/.286/.368 with 13 stolen bases, eight home runs and 30 RBI across 233 plate appearances.

Braves' Stuart Fairchild: Traded to Atlanta
Atlanta acquired Fairchild from the Reds on Monday in exchange for cash considerations, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Fairchild had been designated for assignment and will now join a new 40-man roster. The 29-year-old is a career .224/.308/.389 hitter over parts of four big-league seasons. He is out of minor-league options, so Fairchild will report to the major-league club.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Pushed off 40-man roster
The Reds designated Fairchild for assignment Thursday.
The transaction was fully expected, as the Reds informed Jacob Hurtubise and Blake Dunn on Wednesday that they had won out over Fairchild in the competition for the two available reserve outfield spots on the Opening Day roster. Fairchild didn't have any minor-league options remaining, so the Reds will have to move him off the 40-man roster and risk losing him to waivers.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Set to lose roster spot
The Reds are expected to designate Fairchild for assignment Thursday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
Even though Austin Hays (calf) is set to open the season on the injured list, the Reds won't keep Fairchild on hand as outfield depth. Instead, Cincinnati will keep Jacob Hurtubise and Blake Dunn on the Opening Day roster as reserve options in the outfield behind projected starters TJ Friedl and Jake Fraley, while utility players Gavin Lux and Santiago Espinal could also see time in left field during Hays' upcoming absence. Fairchild struggled to a .215/.286/.368 slash line in 233 plate appearances with Cincinnati in 2024 and didn't fare any better this spring with a .417 OPS and 28.9 percent strikeout rate over 45 plate appearances in the Cactus League.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Back in action after thumb surgery
Fairchild (thumb) has gone 0-for-5 with a strikeout through his first two Cactus League games.
He'll be in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, with all three of his starts having come in center field. Though he missed the final month of the 2024 season while recovering from a right thumb sprain that required surgery, Fairchild appears to have had a normal offseason and will be looking to compete for a short-side platoon role in the Cincinnati outfield throughout the spring. He has no minor-league options remaining, which may work in his favor in his bid for a spot on the Opening Day roster.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Out for season
The Reds transferred Fairchild (thumb) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
Fairchild just landed on the 10-day IL on Tuesday with a sprained left thumb, an injury which had been bothering him for a while, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. He is expected to undergo surgery and will miss the remainder of the season. Fairchild finished with a .215/.286/.368 batting line, eight home runs and 13 stolen bases over 94 contests for the Reds.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Placed on IL
The Reds placed Fairchild on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Aug. 26, with a left thumb sprain.
It's unclear when Fairchild sustained the injury, but the sprained thumb will force him to the injured list. Rece Hinds was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to provide some depth in the outfield while TJ Friedl continues to start most games in center field.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Fills in, homers off righty
Fairchild entered Friday's game after Jake Fraley (ankle) was removed and went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in an 8-3 loss to Milwaukee.
Fairchild swatted his eighth homer of the season as part of the Reds' three-run seventh inning. It came off a right-hander; Fairchild is batting .152 with a .522 OPS against righties this season. It's unclear why Cincinnati manager David Bell went with Fairchild instead of the lefty-hitting Will Benson, who has slightly better results against right-handers. Bell told MLB.com following the game that Fraley is "fine" and could return to action Saturday.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Swats homer in win
Fairchild started in right field and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Giants.
Fairchild's fourth-inning homer finished off the Reds' scoring for the day. It was his seventh home run and second in the last seven games. Fairchild, who typically starts against left-handers, is batting .222/.293/.360 over 209 plate appearances (79 games).

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Provides game-winning knock
Fairchild entered Friday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI in a 3-2 extra-inning win over the Rays.
Fairchild entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and was still in the game to deliver the game-winning run on a double in the top of the 10th. The winning knock came off a right-hander, against whom Fairchild is batting just .151 this season. His opportunities will take a hit with the return of TJ Friedl from the injured list, but Fairchild should be in the lineup anytime the Reds face a left-handed starter.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: On bench for Game 1
Fairchild is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with Atlanta.
Fairchild had started in center field in both of Cincinnati's last two games, but he'll give way to Will Benson for the first game of the twin bill. Atlanta is bringing southpaw Chris Sale to the hill for the nightcap, so expect the right-handed-hitting Stuart Fairchild to pick up a start in the outfield while either or both of Benson and Jake Fraley -- both left-handed hitters -- head to the bench.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Logs steal in win
Fairchild started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a double, a hit-by-pitch, a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 4-1 win over Atlanta.
Fairchild, who normally is in the lineup against lefties, made a second consecutive start against a right-hander. The steal was his 13th on the season, and his sixth in the last 14 contests. The Reds' outfield has changed over recent days, as Fairchild, Rece Hinds and Austin Slater vie for playing time. That uncertainty is expected to change soon, as TJ Friedl (hamstring) is currently on a rehab assignment and could return for this weekend's series against the Rays.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Goes yard in loss
Fairchild went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Sunday's 5-2 loss to Washington.
Since being activated from the injured list July 19, Fairchild has started in two of the Reds' three games and has logged a pair of hits with a homer and a stolen base. The long ball came Sunday in the fifth inning off Jake Irvin and tied the game up at 2-2. On the year, Fairchild has a .227/.299/.364 slash line across 195 plate appearances.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Gets start Friday
Fairchild started in center field and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 8-5 loss to the Nationals.
Fairchild, who put himself in scoring position with a single and a steal, scored the Reds' first run. The theft was his career-high 12th stolen base. Fairchild was activated off the 10-day injured list earlier in the day and was available against Washington left-hander Patrick Corbin. He was an automatic starter against left-handers prior to his injury, but Cincinnati has since added Austin Slater and promoted Rece Hinds, which crowds the outfield's right-handed-hitting options against southpaws. Eventually, TJ Friedl (hamstring) will rejoin the team, perhaps next week, and Fairchild could get further squeezed for at-bats.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Activated from IL
The Reds reinstated Fairchild (back) from the 10-day injured list Friday.
Fairchild had been eyeing a return after the All-Star break, and he'll hit that goal by being available for Cincinnati's series opener against the Nationals on Friday. The outfielder has been shelved since July 7 with a disc injury. Before the injury, the 28-year-old had been seeing regular work in center field in place of TJ Friedl (hamstring), but with Friedl likely back next week and both Rece Hinds and Austin Slater added to the mix since Fairchild landed on the IL, he may be limited to a short-side platoon role. Edwin Rios was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

Reds' Stuart Fairchild: Expected back after All-Star break
Reds manager David Bell said Sunday that Fairchild (spine) is expected to return from the 10-day injured list following the All-Star break, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Fairchild was placed on the IL on Monday with a spinal disc injury, but he seems to be progressing well and tracking toward an abbreviated absence. He'll head to the Reds' complex in Arizona during the break to increase his baseball activities, and barring a setback, he should be ready to go when Cincinnati opens its second-half schedule Friday in Washington. Fairchild had been serving as the Reds' everyday center fielder in the absence of TJ Friedl (hamstring) prior to getting hurt, but he may be limited to a short-side platoon role upon his activation now that Cincinnati has added Rece Hinds and Austin Slater to its outfield mix in addition to getting Jake Fraley back from the family medical emergency list.
