  • Guardians' Michael Kennedy: Makes return from IL

Kennedy (knee) struck out two and allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks over two innings in his start Thursday after being reinstated from High-A Lake County's 7-day injured list. Kennedy had been on the shelf since May 7 due to a right knee strain before being cleared to rejoin Lake County after completing a two-start rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. Over 18 innings with Lake County this season, Kennedy has posted a 4.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB.

  • Guardians' Michael Kennedy: Shelved at High-A

High-A Lake County placed Kennedy on its 7-day injured list Wednesday due to right knee soreness. Kennedy, 20, has delivered a 3.38 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB across 16 innings over his four appearances (two starts) with Lake County. • Guardians' Michael Kennedy: Shipped to Cleveland

The Pirates traded Kennedy, along with Luis Ortiz and Josh Hartle, to the Guardians on Tuesday in exchange for Spencer Horwitz, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Kennedy spent time in Single-A and High-A ball in 2024, posting a 3.53 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 79 innings between the two levels. The 20-year-old southpaw has been largely successful at every level he's played in so far in his career, and he could receive a promotion to Double-A in 2025 if he continues at his current pace.

  • Pirates' Michael Kennedy: Comes off IL

Single-A Bradenton reinstated Kennedy (undisclosed) from the 7-day injured list Friday. Kennedy had been on the shelf since June 16 before he made his return to action Friday against Palm Beach. He started and covered three innings, striking out four batters while giving up one earned run on two hits and zero walks. The 19-year-old lefty owns a 4.61 ERA and 64:11 K:BB across 56.2 innings for Bradenton this season.

  • Pirates' Michael Kennedy: Out with undisclosed injury

Single-A Bradenton placed Kennedy on the 7-day injured list June 16 with an undisclosed injury. Kennedy, a 19-year-old southpaw, logged a 4.70 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 60:11 K:BB in 53.2 innings across 11 starts for the Marauders before landing on the shelf. His 3.35 xFIP and 21.6 K-BB% were strong marks, and he is a better prospect than his Single-A ERA suggests.
