Proctor reached the big leagues with the Giants for the first time late in the 2022 season, but he was outrighted off the 40-man roster in November and had fallen down the organizational depth chart at catcher thus far in 2023. Prior to his release, the 26-year-old played exclusively at Triple-A Sacramento this season, slashing .227/.356/.332 with six home runs and three stolen bases over 284 plate appearances.

Proctor went 1-for-2 with a grand slam in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Rockies.
Proctor made the start at second base Thursday. He hit a grand slam in his first at-bat, which was his first home run and second hit in the majors since his first call-up Sept. 24. He's hit 12 homers in each of his last two minor-league seasons. Proctor should continue to get some playing time as an infielder, as his natural position of catcher is occupied by Joey Bart and Austin Wynns.

Proctor was traded from the Rays to the Giants at the beginning of August and will make his major-league debut Saturday against Arizona. Proctor was optioned to minor-league camp Sunday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Proctor was in big-league camp with the Rays after being added to the 40-man roster in November, but he won't make the Opening Day roster. The 25-year-old spent the 2021 campaign at Double-A Montgomery and hit .247/.383/.425 with 12 home runs, 54 runs and 48 RBI in 97 games.
