Orioles' Chris Vallimont: Designated for assignment
Vallimont was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Tuesday. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Ryan O'Hearn. A waiver claim last May, Vallimont posted a 5.63 ERA and 105:50 K:BB over 104 innings between Double- and Triple-A in 2022. Orioles' Chris Vallimont: Bumped up to Triple-A
Vallimont was promoted from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday. Vallimont struggled with Double-A Wichita while a member of the Twins' organization to begin the year. He was designated for assignment in May and claimed off waivers by the Orioles. In three starts with Bowie, he allowed just one earned run with an 18:4 K:BB across 13 innings. Vallimont was designated for assignment by the Twins on Saturday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Vallimont has made seven appearances (six starts) at Double-A Wichita this year, and he's posted a 9.95 ERA and 2.68 WHIP in 19 innings. Twins' Chris Vallimont: Goes to Double-A
The Twins optioned Vallimont to Double-A Wichita on Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Vallimont was one of six pitchers optioned to minor-league camp as the Twins made their first round of cuts. He'll report back to Wichita for a second go-around after he struggled during his first taste of the Double-A level in 2021, finishing with a 6.03 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 91 innings over his 21 innings. Vallimont (undisclosed) made his 2021 debut Sunday in a rehab outing with Low-A Fort Myers, covering three scoreless innings while striking out six and allowing two hits and no walks.
