  • Phillies' Liover Peguero: Inks minors deal with Phillies

The Phillies signed Peguero to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Aram Leighton of JustBaseball.com reports.

Peguero never got settled in during his four seasons with the Pirates, slashing just .227/.278/.368 over 315 plate appearances. He'll turn just 25 next month and can play all over the infield, so Peguero could be useful organizational depth for Philadelphia.

  • Pirates' Liover Peguero: Outrighted to Indy

Peguero cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Indianapolis, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Peguero spent most of 2025 in Triple-A, slashing .247/.316/.371 across 304 plate appearances. Now that he's been booted off Pittsburgh's 40-man roster, it seems likely that the 24-year-old will return to Indianapolis to begin the 2026 season.

  • Pirates' Liover Peguero: Waived by Buccos

The Pirates placed Peguero on outright waivers Tuesday, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Peguero will lose his place on the 40-man roster after appearing in just 33 MLB games in 2025, during which he slashed .200/.273/.363 over 88 plate appearances. If the 24-year-old passes through waivers unclaimed, he will most likely begin the 2026 season at Triple-A Indianapolis.

The Pirates optioned Peguero to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

  • Pirates' Liover Peguero: Smacks three homers in loss

Peguero went 3-for-5 with three home runs and five RBI during Saturday's 8-5 loss to the Rockies.

Peguero supplied all of the runs for the Pirates on Saturday, and he did so in a big way. He followed up a leadoff homer with a a three-run blast to left field in the fifth to give Pittsburgh a 4-0 lead, and he capped off his big night with a solo shot with two outs in the ninth. Peguero extended his hitting streak to five games, during which he's gone 7-for-19 (.368) with one steal, four long balls and seven RBI. Though he lacks a direct path to an everyday role at the moment, Peguero is capable of playing all over the infield and could earn steadier at-bats as a result of Saturday's breakout performance.

  • Pirates' Liover Peguero: Clubs homer

Peguero went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Giants.

Peguero tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth inning and added another RBI with a groundout in the eighth. The long ball was his first in the majors since the 2023 campaign, though he's hit a combined 18 homers over 200 games with Triple-A Indianapolis in 2024 and 2025. In the majors this year, he is batting .263 with a 1:5 BB:K across 21 plate appearances. He's made starts at first base, second base and shortstop over the last four games and appears to be a reserve utility infielder at this time.

  • Pirates' Liover Peguero: Call-up official

The Pirates called up Peguero from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

As expected, Peguero will fill the hole vacated by the Pirates' trading Adam Frazier to the Royals. Peguero should provide some depth in the middle infield. He has slashed .251/.315/.369 with five home runs and eight stolen bases across 289 plate appearances with Indianapolis in 2025.

  • Pirates' Liover Peguero: Call-up expected

Peguero has a spot in the Pirates' locker room and is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

The Pirates traded Adam Frazier to Kansas City for Cam Devanney, who was immediately optioned to Triple-A, leaving an open spot on the 26-man roster. Peguero has played all four infield positions plus center field at Triple-A this season. However, he played only second base and shortstop in a brief stint with Pittsburgh earlier this year. With Frazier out of the picture, Peguero's easiest path to playing time will come in the middle infield.

After being called up from Triple-A on May 2, Peguero appeared in four games for Pittsburgh and went 2-for-9 with three strikeouts.

  • Pirates' Liover Peguero: Among six optioned Tuesday

The Pirates optioned Peguero to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Peguero had been among the field battling for a spot on the Pirates' bench to begin the regular season, but going 2-for-15 with a home run in 10 games won't be enough to crack the Opening Day roster. Until the 24-year-old's bat improves, he's likely destined to spend most of his time in Triple-A, though he may be promoted throughout the season to provide Pittsburgh with some fresh legs off the bench.
