Yankees' Rob Brantly: Dealt to Yankees
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Giants traded Brantly to the Yankees on Wednesday in exchange for cash.

He was added to the Yankees' 60-man player pool and sent to their alternate site. New York's catching depth chart behind Gary Sanchez consists of Kyle Higashioka, who is on the injured list with an oblique injury, and Erik Kratz. Brantly could get the call if the team suffers any more injuries at the position.

Giants' Rob Brantly: Clears waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly cleared waivers and was outrighted to the Giants' alternate training site, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

After being removed from the Giants' 40-man roster Tuesday, Brantly will remain within the organization for now. Even with more flexibility at catcher this season after Buster Posey opted out of playing, it's unlikely that Brantly will rejoin the major-league roster in 2020 unless injuries pile up.

Giants' Rob Brantly: Bumped off roster
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Giants designated Brantly for assignment Tuesday.

Brantly was able to secure a spot on the Giants' 30-man Opening Day roster as a second catcher after Buster Posey opted out of the 2020 season, but the 31-year-old journeyman didn't stick around at the big-league level for long. He made his lone start behind the dish Friday against the Dodgers and went 0-for-3 at the plate. The Giants selected Chadwick Tromp's contract from their alternate training site in a corresponding move, so he'll replace Brantly as the No. 2 backstop behind Tyler Heineman.

Giants' Rob Brantly: Claims roster spot
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Giants selected Brantly's contract Thursday.

Brantly and Tyler Heineman will be the lone catchers on the Giants' 30-man roster after Buster Posey elected to opt out of the 2020 season earlier this month. A career .229/.294/.332 hitter over parts of five MLB seasons, the 31-year-old Brantly won't offer much to get excited about from a fantasy perspective even if he emerges as the clear top catcher for San Francisco.

Giants' Rob Brantly: Added to 60-man pool
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly made the Giants' 60-man roster.

He was in camp on a minor-league deal and will provide catching depth in the shortened season. Buster Posey will be the primary catcher while Brantly competes with Scott Heineman for the backup role. Joey Bart is also in the 60-man pool but he is not expected to open the year in the majors.

Giants' Rob Brantly: Joins Giants on minors deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly signed with the Giants as a non-roster invitee Tuesday.

Brantly served as organizational depth for the Phillies last season, striking out in his lone big-league plate appearance. With a career .229/.294/.332 slash line in 127 games at the highest level, he'll likely fill the same role for the Giants this season.

Phillies' Rob Brantly: Outrighted to Triple-A
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.

Unsurprisingly, Brantly went unclaimed through waivers after the Phillies designated him for assignment over the weekend. The 30-year-old journeyman is expected to fill a depth role at catcher for Lehigh Valley.

Phillies' Rob Brantly: Designated for assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Saturday.

Brantly was up for a single day while J.T. Realmuto was on the paternity list, striking out in his only plate appearance. The Phillies can be reasonably confident that he'll pass through waivers unclaimed, as he owns a career .229/.294/.332 slash line and hasn't recorded a big-league hit since 2017.

Phillies' Rob Brantly: Contract selected by Phillies
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly's contract was selected by the Phillies on Friday.

He will back up Andrew Knapp over the weekend while J.T. Realmuto is on the paternity list. It would be a surprise to see Brantly make more than one start during his likely brief time with the team, and his career .230/.294/.333 slash line in 126 major-league games doesn't make him a particularly interesting daily fantasy flyer if he does get into the lineup.

Phillies' Rob Brantly: Heads to Philadelphia
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly signed a minor-league contract with the Phillies on Friday which includes an invitation to spring training.

Brantly will provide some extra depth at the catching position with over 100 games at the major-league level under his belt. During the 2018 campaign, Brantly hit just .210/.252/.284 with two home runs and 21 RBI across 72 games in Triple-A.

Indians' Rob Brantly: Joins Indians
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly signed a minor-league contract with the Indians on Saturday.

Brantly was cut loose by the Braves last Sunday after slashing .218/.254/.293 with Triple-A Gwinnett this season. The 29-year-old likely just bolsters the organization's catching depth with the departure of Francisco Mejia in the trade with the Padres for relievers Brad Hand and Adam Cimber.

Rob Brantly: Released by Atlanta
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Braves released Brantly from his minor-league contract Sunday.

Triple-A Gwinnett cut ties with Brantly to make room for catching prospect Alex Jackson, who was promoted from Double-A Mississippi to fill the opening on the roster. Over 201 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season, Brantly slashed .218/.254/.293 with one home run.

Braves' Rob Brantly: Homers twice Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.

He's having a good spring at the plate in his limited opportunities, going 8-for-18 with three homers, but with Tyler Flowers and Kurt Suzuki ahead of him on the depth chart, Brantly will begin the season at Triple-A Gwinnett. If injuries create a spot for him with the Braves, though, the 28-year-old does have some upside with his bat.

Braves' Rob Brantly: Agrees to terms with Braves
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Friday, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.

Brantly spent time with the Reds and White Sox in 2017, mostly at the Triple-A level, as the 28-year-old appeared in just 14 major-league games. He did a fine job at each stop, and slashed .290/.389/.516 with two home runs and five RBI during his brief time with Chicago in the big leagues. Moving forward, he will likely provide organizational depth for the Braves while starting the season with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Rob Brantly: Outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte, becomes free agent
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, and will become a minor-league free agent following the conclusion of the 2017 season.

Brantly spent a majority of the 2017 season in Triple-A, but wound up appearing in 14 games at the big-league level with the White Sox. During that span, the catcher went 9-for-31 from the plate with one double, two home runs and five RBI. This move takes Brantly off the 40-man roster, dropping Chicago to 33 for the time being, as he becomes a free agent.

White Sox's Rob Brantly: Swats first homer Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

This was Brantly's first homer and second extra-base hit since his contract was purchased from Triple-A Charlotte in late August. He's appeared in 12 games (seven starts), but has yet to start consecutive games. If you're trolling for catching help in the final days of the season, you should look past the 28-year-old Brantly.

White Sox's Rob Brantly: Has contract purchased
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly had his contract purchased from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday.

Brantly was summoned to the White Sox to take the place of Nicky Delmonico, who was sent to the disabled list with a sprained wrist in a corresponding move. He's put together a respectable .290/.350/.442 slash line with 10 homers in 82 games between Triple-A Louisville and Charlotte. If he performs well, he could earn some at-bats as the designated hitter while Delmonico is on the shelf.

White Sox's Rob Brantly: Inks minors deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The White Sox signed Brantly to a minor-league contract Thursday.

Brantly, who was recently released by the Reds, will get another chance to win a major-league role with a familiar club. He was with the White Sox in 2015, running through the minors with a .310/.335/.483 combined line with Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte but batting just .121/.167/.242 in 36 plate appearances with the Pale Hose. Given how underwhelming Chicago's catcher picture has been, he could work his way back up to the majors before the end of the 2017 season.

Rob Brantly: Searching for new club
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Reds released Brantly, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Brantly holds a career major-league line of .225/.286/.317 in 392 plate appearances but rattled off a .298/.335/.435 stint in 179 plate appearances for Triple-A Louisville this season. Perhaps the soon-to-be 28-year-old will garner interest from another organization. Meanwhile for Cincinnati, Stuart Turner likely will stick as the No. 3 option at catcher behind Devin Mesoraco and Tucker Barnhart.

Reds' Rob Brantly: Headed to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brantly was reassigned to minor-league camp Tuesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Following this move, Rule 5 pick Stuart Turner now appears locked in as the backup to Tucker Barnhart to begin the year with Devin Mesoraco (hip) still working himself back to full strength. Brantly, a .225/.286/.317 career hitter at the major-league level, went 10-for-31 with two doubles, four walks and five strikeouts in 19 Cactus League games.
