Everybody loves a good throwback or alternate jersey night, especially when there is a local tie-in to the effort. For the Memphis Grizzlies, they unveiled on Friday their Hardwood Classic Nights throwbacks that harken back to the days of the Memphis Sounds from the old ABA league.

A change of pace from the normal Memphis midnight navy blue, Beale Street blue, smoke blue, and gold jerseys, these bright red alternates look pretty great from the photo the Grizzlies tweeted out and their page announcing the promotion.

The Grizzlies will wear these uniforms five times at FedExForum and even take them on the road for three away games. They'll have various promotions from Memphis Sounds pennant to car fresheners to tacky holiday t-shirts, and "groovey entertainment programming and unique 'old school' giveaways." From the Grizzlies:

With Monday’s Western Conference matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Memphis Grizzlies will unveil their throwback Memphis Sounds uniforms in the first of five Hardwood Classics Nights at FedExForum (plus three away games), presented by First Tennessee Bank.

This season, the Grizzlies are celebrating basketball’s rich legacy in Memphis and the Mid-South through the Hardwood Classics Nights at FedExForum. On five home dates this season, the team will wear throwback Memphis Sounds uniforms in recognition of the ABA (American Basketball Association) team that once called Memphis home from 1974-75.

Hardwood Classics at FedExForum will feature groovy entertainment programming and unique “old school” giveaways including Monday’s Memphis Sounds Pennant giveaway (to the first 5,000 fans in attendance) and Memphis Sounds Tacky Holiday T’s and Memphis Sounds Car Air Fresheners on future Hardwood Classics nights.

This is a good look, Memphis.
