P.J. Tucker: Retiring from basketball
Tucker announced his retirement from basketball Thursday, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
Tucker hadn't played in an NBA game since the 2024-25 campaign, when he logged three appearances for the Knicks. The Texas product was known throughout his career as a hard-nosed defender, and his presence on the defensive end played a key role in helping Milwaukee bring home an NBA Championship during the 2020-21 season. Tucker averaged 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals over 886 career regular-season games.

P.J. Tucker: Headed to free agency
The Knicks will decline Tucker's $3.4 million team option for 2025-26 on Sunday, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
The veteran signed two 10-day contracts with New York in March before landing a one-year deal with the club in April. However, he totaled only four appearances during the 2024-25 campaign, including a four-minute cameo in the playoffs.

Knicks' P.J. Tucker: Limited playing time in 2024-25
Tucker finished the 2024-25 campaign with averages of 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds across 19.3 minutes per game in three regular-season outings (one start).
Tucker signed two 10-day contracts with New York in March before landing a one-year deal with the club in April. The veteran forward made only one postseason appearance, and the Knicks hold a team option on his contract for next season. Should the 40-year-old choose to continue playing, he'll likely serve as sparsely deployed veteran depth considering his age.

Tucker is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 against the Pistons on Saturday, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports.
The Knicks will revert to their regular starting lineup in the series opener against Detroit, meaning Tucker returns to his bench role. The veteran forward isn't expected to have a sizable role in the postseason.

Knicks' P.J. Tucker: Getting spot start Sunday
Tucker will start Sunday's game against the Nets, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
With Jalen Brunson (ankle), Josh Hart (knee), OG Anunoby (thumb) and Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) all sidelined, the Knicks will start Tucker, Miles McBride, Cameron Payne, Precious Achiuwa and Mikal Bridges, though Bridges figures to play only a few minutes to keep his consecutive games played streak going. This will be Tucker's first start of the season, and he posted three points and six rebounds in 27 minutes during Thursday's loss in Detroit.

Knicks' P.J. Tucker: Signs two-year deal with New York
The Knicks signed Tucker to a two-year deal Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Tucker will remain with the Knicks through the playoffs, and he could stay in New York next season if the club exercises its team option. The veteran forward played only two minutes during his two 10-day contracts with the Knicks in March, and he's unlikely to crack the rotation regularly.

Knicks' P.J. Tucker: Plans to ink 10-day deal with NYK
Tucker plans to join the Knicks on a short-term contract, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
The Raptors recently waived Tucker after he was shipped to Toronto ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February. Although his status was in doubt for the rest of the season, he'll have an ideal opportunity to prove he still has some basketball left in him in New York, with the Knicks needing some depth on the roster after Jalen Brunson's ankle injury.

P.J. Tucker: Waived by Toronto
The Raptors waived Tucker on Friday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
After being shipped to Toronto ahead of the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 6, Tucker seemingly had no intention to join a team with no incentive to win for the rest of the season, which sparked speculation of a buyout. Now that the Raptors have waived the 39-year-old veteran, it'll be interesting to see if he lands with another team or calls it a career.
