Theo Pinson: Headed to G League
Pinson was waived by the Celtics on Saturday, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports.
Pinson joined Boston for training camp, but he'll head to the Maine Celtics ahead of the 2021-22 campaign. He appeared in two preseason games this year and averaged 8.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 16.7 minutes per contest.... See More ... See Less
Celtics' Theo Pinson: Inks camp deal with Celtics
Pinson signed a training camp contract with the Celtics on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Undrafted out of North Carolina in 2018, Pinson spent his first two NBA seasons with the Nets, appearing in 51 total games in 2018-19 and 2019-20. He joined the Knicks on a two-way deal last season but logged only 34 minutes across 17 appearances for the team. With a strong camp, there's a chance Pinson could latch on with the Celtics, but even if he does make the roster, his impact would likely be minimal.... See More ... See Less

Pinson (coach's decision) didn't play during Wednesday's loss to Minnesota.
Pinson hasn't seen the floor since logging two minutes against the Thunder on March 13. The third-year guard has recorded just two points all season, which came Jan. 26 against Utah.... See More ... See Less
Knicks' Theo Pinson: Logs two minutes off bench
Pinson didn't score in two minutes of action during Tuesday's loss to San Antonio.
Pinson made just his second appearance off the bench over the past eight games, as the guard was a nonfactor Tuesday. Pinson's only points this season came Jan. 26 against Utah when he posted just two points.... See More ... See Less

Pinson didn't take the court in Monday's win over Atlanta.
Pinson appeared in the past two games before Monday's outing, logging four total minutes and missing his only three-point attempt. The former North Carolina standout is averaging 2.3 minutes in nine appearances so far for New York.... See More ... See Less
Knicks' Theo Pinson: Nabs two-way deal from Knicks
Pinson agreed Sunday with the Knicks on a two-way contract, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
New York declined Pinson's qualifying offer earlier this month, only to bring him back to join Jared Harper as one of the team's two two-way players. Pinson will be eligible to spend up to 50 games with New York during the 2020-21 campaign, but unless the Knicks are down several players on the wing, the 25-year-old likely won't be in the mix for extended playing time. Pinson appeared in 33 games with Brooklyn in 2019-20, averaging 3.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 11.1 minutes per contest.... See More ... See Less

Pinson was claimed off waivers by the Knicks on Friday, Chris Iseman of The Bergen Record reports. In a corresponding move, Allonzo Trier was waived.
Pinson appeared in 33 games for the Nets this season, averaging 3.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 11.1 minutes. He also appeared in nine G League games, averaging 15.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.1 steals in 32.0 minutes. The Knicks are seemingly opting to get a look at him over the offseason and into next year.... See More ... See Less
Theo Pinson: Waived by Brooklyn
Pinson was waived by the Nets on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Brooklyn picked up Tyler Johnson on Tuesday, so Pinson will be cut loose to accommodate the veteran on the roster. Pinson appeared in 33 games for the Nets this season, averaging 3.6 points, 1.7 assists and 1.6 rebounds per contest. The North Carolina product shot just 29.0 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from three.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Theo Pinson: Recalled from G League
Pinson has been recalled from the G League ahead of Wednesday's contest against the Raptors.
Pinson hasn't seen much NBA run lately, appearing in just seven games since the calendar hit 2020. He's appeared in nine G League contests, averaging 15.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.8 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Theo Pinson: Catches fire in G League
Pinson poured in 32 points (12-19 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-4 FT) to go with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals across 37 minutes Tuesday in the G League Long Island Nets' 117-110 win over the Wisconsin Herd.
Playing time for Pinson at the NBA level has been scarce of late, so Brooklyn elected to assign him to the G League in order for him to pick up minutes. While the second-year wing was able to take advantage of the opportunity and put up a gaudy stat line, the performance is unlikely to earn him meaningful run with the parent club anytime soon.... Nets' Theo Pinson: Re-enters rotation
Pinson appeared off the bench in both of the Nets' past two games, compiling 14 points (5-13 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four assists, one rebound and one steal in 19 minutes between the contests.
David Nwaba's season-ending Achilles injury has seemingly opened up a spot for Pinson in the rotation, but the second-year player will be at risk of being bumped from the second unit once Caris LeVert (thumb) is cleared to return to action. LeVert will remain out for Monday's game against the Timberwolves, so Pinson should be in line for at least one more outing as a backup to starting wings Garrett Temple and Joe Harris.... Nets' Theo Pinson: Empty stat line in victory
Pinson managed just two assists, one rebound and one steal in 17 minutes during Sunday's 103-101 victory over New York.
Pinson played 17 minutes off the bench Sunday but offered very little in the way of statistical production. Pinson has moved into a more prominent role with Kyrie Irving (shoulder) on the sidelines but is not someone to target outside of the deepest of leagues.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Theo Pinson: Logs 16 minutes in Monday's loss
Pinson pitched in eight points (3-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist in 16 minutes during Monday's 115-86 loss to the Pacers.
Pinson has logged double-digit minutes in each of the last two contests with Kyrie Irving (shoulder) and Caris LeVert (thumb) out. Pinson had appeared in only two tilts this season prior to this recent stretch. Once Irving returns to the lineup, Pinson may not remain part of the rotation, but if the star point guard sits out Wednesday's matchup versus the Hornets, Pinson could see decent burn yet again.... Nets' Theo Pinson: Expected to see more run
Pinson is in line to see more playing time while Kyrie Irving (shoulder) returns to health, Alex Schiffer of The Athletic reports.
Pinson logged 18 minutes off the bench Saturday against the Bulls, and it looks as though he'll continue to see an increased workload Monday with Irving out. He finished with 10 points, three assists, one rebound and one steal Saturday.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Theo Pinson: Sees first minute of the season
Pinson contributed a rebound, an assist and a steal in one minute of play during Wednesday's loss to the Pacers.
Pinson was productive in his first action of the season, though it came in an unfortunate defeat to the Pacers. After averaging 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 11.7 minutes across 18 games in his rookie year, it appears as if Pinson's been displaced in the Nets' rotation. There's a good chance he could see time in the G-League this year, depending on the Nets' roster needs.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Theo Pinson: Re-signs with Brooklyn
Pinson (back) re-signed Monday with the Nets on a two-year contract, Michael Scotto of The Athletic reports.
Brooklyn pulled Pinson's qualifying offer over the weekend, allowing him to become a free agent. The North Carolina product didn't wait long to find work, however, as Brooklyn quickly re-signed him once the team had more salary-cap flexibility. Pinson had also been nursing a back injury that sidelined him for Sunday's Las Vegas Summer League matchup with the Hornets, but that's no longer a concern, either. He suited up in Monday's 88-85 win over the Wizards, finishing with nine points.... See More ... See Less
Nets' Theo Pinson: Dealing with tight back
Pinson won't be available Sunday for the Nets' Las Vegas Summer League matchup with the Croatian national team due to lower-back tightness, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
Pinson appeared in 22 games for the Nets in 2018-19 as an undrafted rookie out of North Carolina, averaging 4.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 11.7 minutes per game. The Nets elected to pull his qualifying offer earlier in the weekend, so he's now an unrestricted free agent even though he'll continue to participate with Brooklyn's summer-league squad. Pinson finished with 14 points, six rebounds and six assists in 29 minutes in his first appearance in Las Vegas and apparently injured his back along the way.... See More ... See Less
