Mavericks' Christian Wood: Headed to Dallas
Wood was traded to the Mavericks from the Rockets on Wednesday in exchange for the No. 26 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and four other players, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Wood will join a Dallas team fresh off its appearance in the 2022 Western Conference Finals as Boban Marjanovic, Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, and Marquese Chriss head to Houston along with a first-round pick in the upcoming draft. Wood averaged 17.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 30.8 minutes per contest this season and should make an immediate impact in the Mavericks' frontcourt to take pressure off Luka Doncic and his supporting cast for the 2022-23 season.... Rockets' Christian Wood: Shut down for season
Wood (hamstring) has been shut down for the remainder of the season, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Wood was slated to miss a second consecutive game Wednesday due to a lingering hamstring injury, but the Rockets will elect to keep him out for the final week and a half of the year. The 26-year-old appeared in a career-high 68 games during his second season with the Rockets and averaged 17.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 30.8 minutes per game. Alperen Sengun (lower leg), Usman Garuba and Kenyon Martin should see additional run in the frontcourt down the stretch.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Out Wednesday
Wood (hamstring) won't play in Wednesday's game against Sacramento, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Wood's lingering hamstring injury will prevent him from seeing the court for a second straight matchup. Alperen Sengun is also nursing a knee injury, so Usman Garuba may be in line for a spot start Wednesday versus the Kings. The center may be able to return in time for the Rockets' next contest versus the Kings on Friday if everything goes as planned.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Won't play Monday
Wood (hamstring) will not play Monday against the Spurs, Jackson Gatlin of Locked On Rockets reports.
At this point in the season, the Rockets' injury report will likely be pretty extensive on a game-to-game basis, so fantasy managers should be prepared to pivot. Prior to Monday, Wood had played in eight straight games, but he saw fewer than 28 minutes in four of his last five appearances.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Dealing with hamstring injury
Wood is questionable for Monday's contest against the Spurs due to left hamstring tightness.
It's unclear when Wood picked up the injury, but he's one of three Rockets listed questionable. If he's sidelined, Alperen Sengun figures to garner an increased role against San Antonio.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Records double-double in loss
Wood racked up 12 points (4-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist and one steal in 27 minutes during Wednesday's 110-91 loss to Dallas.
Wood is finishing the season strong, and Wednesday marked his fourth double-double over the past six games. Although this scoring total was a slight letdown after he notched a career-best 39 points in Monday's win over the Wizards, he remains a bright spot in Houston's lost season.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Career-high 39 points in win
Wood amassed 39 points (14-18 FG, 8-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 36 minutes during Monday's 115-97 victory over Washington.
Everything clicked for Wood in Monday's victory, with the center achieving a career-high scoring haul on supremely efficient shooting from all areas of the court. Wood was instrumental in erasing the Wizards' 23-point lead at the half, and his performance was a great morale boost for the struggling Rockets. He also became the second player in team history to score 30 points, grab 10 rebounds and hit eight three-pointers in a game, joining James Harden.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Monster performance not enough
Wood produced 32 points (11-14 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 6-8 FT), 13 rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and two steals over 34 minutes during Friday's 121-118 loss to the Pacers.
Wood finished with team highs in points and rebounds en route to his 30th double-double of the campaign. His 32 points were one short of his season high and it was the 20th time he grabbed at least 13 rebounds. Wood also displayed his defensive instincts by registering multiple blocks and multiple steals in the same game for just the second time this season. After a three-game absence due to an illness, the undrafted (2015) big man put together back-to-back modest performances, but he appears to have gotten back on track Friday. Wood will look to build off his stellar performance Sunday against the Grizzlies.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Comes close to double-double
Wood accumulated 18 points (5-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 6-9 FT), nine rebounds and one assist across 27 minutes during Wednesday's 129-112 loss to the Suns.
Wood ended just one rebound away from posting a double-double, but he hasn't been playing well since returning from a three-game absence due to illness. The big man hasn't recorded a double-double since Mar. 6, but he's still averaging 19.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game across six appearances this month.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Uninspired performance Sunday
Wood accumulated eight points (3-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, four assists and one block across 26 minutes during Sunday's 130-105 loss to New Orleans.
Wood returned to action Sunday but was unable to deliver the kind of performance managers would have been hoping for. The Rockets were torn apart by the Pelicans, resulting in limited minutes for all of the starters, Wood included. Given the Rockets are playing for very little, knowing what they are going to do with their rotation moving forward is riddled with uncertainty. Wood remains a must-roster player but it wouldn't be surprising to see his production fluctuate the rest of the way, much like it has all season.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Officially available Sunday
Wood (illness) is officially off the injury report for Sunday's game against the Pelicans, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
As expected, Wood will return to the lineup following a three-game absence due to a significant illness. Jae'Sean Tate (ankle) is also off the injury report, so both Alperen Sengun and Kenyon Martin will presumably head to the bench.... See More ... See Less
Rockets' Christian Wood: Practices Saturday, says he'll play
Wood (illness) returned to practice Saturday and said he'll play Sunday in New Orleans, Cayleigh Griffin of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
Wood has been sidelined for the previous three games due to an illness. His presence at Saturday's practice indicates he is trending in the right direction for Sunday. The Rockets could still list Wood on the official injury report, but fantasy managers should expect him to see the floor, which would presumably push Alperen Sengun to the bench.... See More ... Rockets head coach Stephen Silas said Wood (illness) is unlikely to play Friday against the Mavericks, Ben DuBose of USA Today reports. He's officially listed as questionable.

Rockets' Christian Wood: Questionable Friday
Wood (illness) is questionable for Friday's game against the Mavericks, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Wood has missed the past two games with a non-COVID-19 illness, and his availability for Friday's contest is also up in the air. Alperen Sengun is poised for another start at center should Wood sit for a third straight contest.... See More ... See Less
