Alex Poythress: Moving on to Russian club
Poythress agreed to a contract Monday with Zenit Saint Petersburg, Emiliano Carchia of Sportando.com reports.
After spending the 2019-20 campaign in Turkey with Galatasaray, Poythress will remain in Europe rather than exploring a return to North America. Poythress most recently appeared in the NBA level in 2018-19, logging 21 appearances with the Hawks.

Alex Poythress: Finds work in Turkey
Poythress signed a contract Monday with Galatasaray of the Turkish Basketball Super League, John Askounis of Eurohoops.net reports.
After his two-way contract with the Hawks expired this offseason, Poythress failed to find any NBA suitors and ultimately signed with the Jilin Northeast Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association. With his stint in China ending after two and a half months, Poythress will remain abroad, this time heading to the European ranks for the first time in his career.

Poythress hasn't taken the court since Mar. 6, so it's no surprise that he's been ruled out for Atlanta's final regular-season matchup. He figures to be healthy well in advance of next year.

Poythress (ankle) may miss extended time, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
According to coach Lloyd Pierce, Poythress' ankle injury "looks really bad" and that he'll "be out for a while". This is a bad sign for the Hawks, who are already without Dewayne Dedmon (knee), Miles Plumlee (knee) and Omari Spellman (ankle), and just recalled Poythress form the G-League earlier this week to provide frontcourt depth. A definite timeline has yet to be given, but based on the initial assessment, Poythress could be in-line to miss several weeks.

Poythress suffered a right ankle sprain and won't return to Wednesday's game against the Spurs, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.
Poythress exited Wednesday's game midway through the fourth quarter with a right ankle sprain. He'd recently returned to the Hawks after an extended stretch in the G-League following another sprain albeit in his left ankle that kept him out for several games earlier this season. It's unclear how severe the injury is, but a statement from the team should come out ahead of Saturday's game against Brooklyn clarifying Poythress' availability.

The Hawks recalled Poythress on Thursday from the G League's Erie BayHawks.
The two-way player could dress for Atlanta's final game before the All-Star break Thursday versus the Knicks, but it's unlikely coach Lloyd Pierce will call upon him for significant run. Poythress is averaging 4.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game over his 18 appearances at the NBA level this season.

Alex Poythress: Amasses whopping 40 points
Poythress amassed 40 points (18-28 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-10 FT), 12 rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists in the 109-103 loss to Lakeland on Friday.
It's a bit surprising to see Poythress struggle from the free throw line, but the BayHawks won't complain when he's scoring almost one half of the team's total points. So long as Poythress continues to stay in the G League, he's a threat to post double-double figures every single game, and scoring explosions such as Friday shouldn't just be a surprise, they might as well be a standard.

Alex Poythress: Fouls out in loss to Herd
Poythress finished the Bayhawks' 119-115 loss to the Herd on Sunday with 21 points (14-24 FG, 1-2 FT, 0-3 3Pt), 10 rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Poythress' 21 points went a long way towards the Bayhawks staying competitive with the Herd, trailing only Terrence Jones in points for the home side. Poythress may have been able to pile on more scoring if not for a disappointing shooting display, only converting 10 shots from the field while shooting as much as Jones and ending with a plus/minus of -14. Poythress' disappointing outing especially hurt the Bayhawks down the stretch when he picked up his fifth foul with six minutes left in the game, forcing the Bayhawks to give bench players time in the clutch.
