Mays accumulated 21 points (7-17 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, 12 assists and three steals in 41 minutes during Sunday's 157-101 loss to Golden State. Mays inked a 10-day deal with the Trail Blazers in late March and signed a rest-of-the-season deal on April 9. He started all six of his appearances and averaged 15.3 points with 8.3 assists per contest, but it must be noted he saw regular playing time when the Blazers had all their starters shut down and with the team out of playoff contention. Given the Trail Blazers have Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe on the roster for next season, it's hard to imagine a scenario where they opt to re-sign Mays this summer.... Trail Blazers' Skylar Mays: Signs for rest of season
Mays signed a rest-of-season contract with the Trail Blazers on Sunday. Mays signed a 10-day contract at the end of March and has started five straight contests, posting 14.2 points, 7.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 29.6 minutes. His initial deal was set to expire, so Portland signed him to another contract for the final game of the campaign. Given his strong play, Mays should garner some interest as a free agent this summer.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Skylar Mays: Seven assists in start
Mays registered 11 points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal over 22 minutes during Thursday's 129-127 loss to the Spurs. With the Trail Blazers essentially shutting down most of their regulars, Mays, who's operating under a two-way contract, has drawn four straight starts and finished with at least 10 points and six assists in each of those contests. During that stretch, he's averaged 15.5 points, 7.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 29.5 minutes with 60/52/100 shooting splits.... See More ... See Less -
Trail Blazers' Skylar Mays: Stellar all-around outing in loss
Mays ended Tuesday's 119-109 loss to Memphis with 24 points (9-16 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, seven assists and one steal in 36 minutes. Mays continues to take advantage of increased playing time and notched season highs in points, rebounds and minutes during Tuesday's loss. The third-year guard is operating under a 10-day deal and has drawn three straight starts, averaging 17.0 points, 7.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds with 60/57/100 shooting splits during that stretch.... Trail Blazers' Skylar Mays: Scores 14 points in start
Mays recorded 14 points (5-8 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, six assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Friday's 138-114 loss to the Kings. Mays, who was recently signed to a 10-day contract, drew the start at point guard with numerous Trail Blazers sidelined, including Damian Lillard (calf), who's been shut down for the remainder of the campaign. Mays was solid during his first appearance of the year and should continue to garner extended looks over Portland's final five regular-season games, though there's no guarantee he'll be able to maintain quality production despite having a somewhat assured role moving forward.... Trail Blazers' Skylar Mays: Gets start Friday
Mays will start at point guard for Friday's game against the Kings, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports. Mays was signed to a 10-day contract March 29. The Blazers are very thin in the backcourt and have already shut down Damian Lillard (calf) for the season, so they'll waste no time in seeing what Mays can do as a primary ball handler.... Trail Blazers' Skylar Mays: Signs with Portland
The Trail Blazers signed Mays to a 10-day contract Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Mays spent the 2022-23 G League season with the Mexico City Capitanes. He could see some minutes at the NBA level during the final weeks of the regular season with Damian Lillard (calf) shut down. However, he's unlikely to have serious fantasy value unless Portland shuts down more members of the regular rotation in an attempt to get younger players, like Mays, more playing time.... Skylar Mays: Team-high scoring tally Monday
Mays tallied 25 points (10-21 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five assists, one rebound and one steal across 39 minutes in Mexico City's 111-98 loss to Birmingham on Monday. Mays led the Capitanes in scoring while eclipsing the 20-point mark for the third time in the last four games. The 2020 second-round pick of the Hawks also has been more aggressive from behind the arc of late, draining multiple threes in three consecutive games while putting up between seven and 11 attempts from distance in those contests.... Skylar Mays: Stellar in Wednesday win
Mays totaled 24 points (10-19 FG, 1-3 Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and three steals across 32 minutes in the Capitanes' 122-116 win over Greensboro on Wednesday. Mays filled out the stat sheet impressively while tying for second in scoring and leading the Capitanes in assists. The one-time draft pick of the Hawks has scored over 20 points in four of his last seven contests, shooting at least Wednesday's 52.6 percent in each of those games.... See More ... See Less -
Skylar Mays: Productive line in win
Mays delivered 17 points (5-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), seven assists, one rebound and one steal across 37 minutes in the Capitanes' 122-107 win over Capital City on Sunday. Mays continues to unsurprisingly thrive at the G League level, with Sunday's game marking his fifth straight with at least 15 points. The 2020 second-round pick of the Hawks has also been a solid facilitator, dishing out at least five assists in five of the last seven contests.... See More ... See Less -
Skylar Mays: Second straight 23-point effort
Mays managed 23 points (7-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds and one assist across 35 minutes in the Capitanes' 109-105 win over Ontario on Monday. Mays managed to replicate his scoring total from Sunday's loss to Ontario, which came largely on the strength of a 9-for-16 showing from the field. The 2020 second-round pick of the Hawks has been a seamless fit with the Capitanes in his first seven games, averaging 20.3 points, 7.0 assists and 5.4 rebounds across 34.9 minutes per contest while shooting an efficient 49.0 percent.... Skylar Mays: Racks up assists in last two games
Mays totaled 15 points (6-18 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 16 assists, nine rebounds, one block and one steal across 38 minutes in the Capitanes' 124-116 win over the Wolves on Wednesday. The assist tally helped make up for a sluggish shooting night, and Mays followed up Wednesday's effort with an even more impressive double-double in Thursday's loss to Sioux Falls. Mays posted 24 points (8-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 11 assists and four rebounds across 42 minutes in that contest, and he's now averaging 19.2 points, 8.8 assists and 5.2 rebounds across 34.3 minutes in his five games with Mexico City.... Skylar Mays: Another solid performance
Mays contributed 12 points (6-14 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), five assists and two rebounds across 28 minutes in the Capitanes' 111-99 loss to the Hustle on Thursday. Mays put together his third productive showing for his new squad in as many games, although the move to the bench Thursday led to a scoring downturn. The 2020 second-round pick of the Hawks had exceeded 20 points in each of his first two contests with the Capitanes, but his production Thursday was still solid considering it came with reduced playing time.... Skylar Mays: Productive off bench Sunday
Mays delivered 21 points (6-16 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, three assists and one steal across 24 minutes in the Capitanes' 122-121 win over Lakeland on Sunday. Mays paced the second unit in scoring while producing his first double-digit scoring tally since Jan. 24. The LSU product is contributing 8.7 points, 3.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game thus far this G League season during 15 games with Delaware and Mexico City.... See More ... See Less -
Skylar Mays: Subpar performance in loss
Mays recorded eight points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and five assists in 18 minutes during Tuesday's 119-113 loss to Grand Rapids. Mays has failed to score in double figures for three straight games. However, he somewhat salvaged his production Tuesday by finishing with five rebounds and five assists for the fourth time this season. Across 22 appearances, Mays is averaging 12.1 points, 4.4 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 26.1 minutes.... See More ... See Less -
Skylar Mays: Modest production in loss
Mays managed 11 points (3-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, five assists and five steals in 29 minutes during Wednesday's 120-117 loss to College Park. Mays scored in double figures for the first time over his past four appearances and grabbed a season-high eight boards during Wednesday's narrow loss. Across 15 appearances, the 25-year-old is averaging 14.1 points, 4.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 28.5 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Skylar Mays: Scores 26 points off bench
Mays registered 26 points (8-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four rebounds and five assists in 36 minutes during Thursday's 127-117 win over the Raptors 905. Mays scored a season-high 26 points off the bench, marking his third 20-plus point outing over his past four games. Across 10 appearances, the 25-year-old has averaged 15.8 points, 4.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 30.5 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Skylar Mays: Scores 20 points in loss
Mays registered 20 points (7-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four assists, two rebounds and two steals in 38 minutes during Sunday's 132-123 loss to Maine. Mays was efficient from the field en route to a second consecutive game with at least 20 points. Across eight appearances, the 25-year-old has averaged 15.9 points, 5.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 31.4 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Skylar Mays: Efficient performance in win
Mays managed 22 points (6-12 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds and seven assists in 34 minutes during Friday's 111-105 win over the Swarm. Mays parlayed an efficient shooting night into a season-high 22 points. Across seven appearances, the 25-year-old has averaged 15.3 points, 5.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 30.9 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less -
Skylar Mays: Struggles with shot in loss
Mays managed 11 points (4-15 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound and one steal in 24 minutes during Sunday's 149-100 loss to Maine. Mays struggled with his shot once for a second straight game, but he still finished with at least 10 points for the fifth time this season. Across six appearances, the 25-year-old has averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 30.5 minutes per game.... See More ... See Less
