Bulls' Alfonzo McKinnie: Enters league protocols
McKinnie was placed in the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols Sunday and is expected to miss time, Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic reports.
After signing a one-year deal with the Bulls earlier Sunday, McKinnie will enter the protocols just over an hour later. Since joining Chicago on the first of two 10-day deals Dec. 10, McKinnie has averaged 8.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 treys and 1.0 assists in 25.0 minutes per contest. The Bulls will likely have several players exit the protocols before him, so McKinnie will presumably be in store for a smaller role off the bench once he's cleared to return.... See More ... McKinnie signed Sunday with the Bulls on a standard one-year NBA contract, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Bulls' Alfonzo McKinnie: Re-ups with Bulls
McKinnie signed a second 10-day contract with the Bulls on Monday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Even though Chicago returned to action Sunday after having two games postponed due to COVID-19-related concerns on the roster, the Bulls are still without several players, so McKinnie will stick around with the club for a second 10-day hardship exemption. After playing 17 minutes in Sunday's 115-110 win over the Lakers, McKinnie could take on an even greater role Monday with Derrick Jones (hamstring) joining the Bulls' long list of players sitting out.... Bulls' Alfonzo McKinnie: Lands meaningful role Saturday
McKinnie produced six points (2-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt), one assist and one block across 29 minutes during Saturday's 118-92 loss to Miami.
McKinnie, having just signed a 10-day contract with the Bulls, walked straight into the rotation thanks to an abundance of player absences. Where his minutes go from here is anyone's guess, making him a very risky target in fantasy leagues. He has never been anything close to a reliable asset and so managers should probably adopt a wait-and-see approach before making any moves.... See More ... See Less
Alfonzo McKinnie: Scores team-high 23 points
McKinnie delivered 23 points (9-23 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds, an assist and a steal across 43 minutes in Tuesday's loss against Birmingham.
The veteran forward continues to thrive at the G League level and remains Mexico City's main scoring threat on a regular basis. Considering he averages 24.1 points per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the field, it shouldn't be surprising to see him as a top scoring asset for Capitanes on a game-to-game basis.... McKinnie agreed to a contract with the Bulls via hardship exemption Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
McKinnie has been playing for the Mexico City Capitanes and averaged 24.1 points, but he'll now join the injury-ravaged Bulls. Chicago has five players unavailable on the COVID-19 list, so it may not be a long stay on the roster for the 29-year-old.... See More ... See Less

McKinnie recorded 30 points (11-20 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds and an assist across 37 minutes in Sunday's win over Birmingham.
McKinnie has been Mexico City's most reliable scoring threat and that is not going to change any time soon. His usage and volume are enough to suggest he should continue as a reliable scoring threat, and he's averaging a healthy 24.2 points per game on the season.... See More ... See Less

McKinnie recorded 20 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds and three assists across 31 minutes in Monday's loss to Rio Grande.
McKinnie was one of four players to score at least 20 points for Mexico City, and he was quite efficient doing so, something that hasn't always been the case with him. McKinnie posted 26 points (10-16 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 16 rebounds, two steals and an assist across 40 minutes in Sunday's loss to Mexico City.
McKinnie has undoubtedly been one of the best players in the entire G League through the first two weeks of the campaign, and he's been a reliable double-double threat for Mexico City. McKinnie has been Mexico City's best player this season despite being undersized for a center, and he has scored at least 20 points in each of his first three appearances of the campaign. McKinnie had 30 points (10-25 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocks across 40 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Hustle.
McKinnie had another disappointing shooting performance but still found a way to supply value across other categories. McKinnie finished with 20 points (5-24 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 16 rebounds, two assists and two steals across 40 minutes in Friday's win over Memphis.
McKinnie might have ended with 20 points, but his shooting was atrocious as he needed 24 attempts to reach that tally. At least he managed to complete a strong outing with a game-high 16 rebounds, but there's no question he needs to work on his efficiency.... See More ... See Less
