Pacers' Johnny Furphy: Out for remainder of preseason
Coach Rick Carlisle said Sunday that Furphy (ankle) will not suit up for the remainder of the preseason, Tony East of SI.com reports.
Furphy tweaked his ankle during training camp in early October and has been a limited participant during practice since. While the 19-year-old is not expected to see the floor during preseason, he was able to put shots up during Sunday's shootaround and looked comfortable doing so. The No. 35 overall pick of the 2024 Draft will likely struggle to find significant playing time to begin his career, and he will compete for minutes with Bennedict Mathurin, Kendall Brown and Jarace Walker off the bench.

Furphy will join Ben Sheppard and Jarace Walker on the sidelines for Saturday's contest, with the trio getting the night off after playing in each of Indiana's first four Summer League games. Furphy will leave Las Vegas having averaged. 14.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals while hitting 10 of his 35 three-point attempts.

Pacers' Johnny Furphy: Headed to Indiana at No. 35
Furphy was selected by the Pacers with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
The Pacers traded up one spot with the Spurs to grab Furphy, who's coming off of a freshman season at Kansas in which he averaged 9.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.3 made threes per game. Furphy is an intriguing blend of size and shooting, having knocked down 35.2 percent of his three-point looks at Kansas. He's unlikely to make much of an impact in Year 1 but could be an interesting developmental project for the Pacers.
